Foot Tattoo of Wolf Print
Wolf Print Tattoo on Her Ankle

I got my first tattoo of 3 Japanese kanji’s. They say Spirit, Wolf, and Eagle. They are on my back so I can draw great strength from knowing that the 3 of them are always behind me.

My next tattoo is of a wolfs paw on my right ankle. This symbolizes the wolf always walking with me.

All my tattoos have a deep spiritual meaning to me.

heart tattoo on foot
Terri’s Feet Hearts Tattoo Story

I wanted to get something to represent my parents and everything they’ve done for me over the last 20 years; for all their love and support. I have always liked the look of ‘old school’ tattoos, so I decided on the two hearts, one for Mum and one for Dad.

As for placement, I knew that getting my feet tattooed would hurt (and it did!!!) but I figured that my parents got me on my feet, so now I have them on my feet :)

Cheesy, but it works

Ashley’s Cherry Blossom Foot Tattoo

I really wanted a tattoo with my kids names in it somehow. I had no idea what I wanted to get. I went in to a local shop to talk to the artist about some ideas. He thought of a cherry blossom branch. I liked the idea, however I didn’t like both kids names written out in full. It didn’t look right. So we decided to sneak in the first initial of each of the kids names in to the middle of the flowers. A “C” for Cameron, and a “M” for Marley. There you have it! The story.

Closeup of tattoo – Can you find the kid’s initials?

Tattoo Story – Katie and Courtney: Friendship Ivy

Courtney Ivy tattoo
Courtney’s Ivy Tattoo

Courtney, my best friend of 20 years and I recently got matching tattoos. Our friendship is definitely significant enough for and worth of a couple of tattoos. Our parents went to college together and we’ve lived 2 houses away from each other our whole lives so there’s no stopping us now.

There are various meanings for ivy leaves but a few significant ones we found that made us choose it were “long and lasting friendship” and “reliable friend.” We each have the other’s first initial incorporated into the design.

Courtney came up with the original design and the final design was put together by the tattoo artist.

Irish saying tattoo

What motivated me to get my tattoo? A lot of things. I’m Irish by birth and never really appreciated my heritage, because when I was little I always thought it was normal for people to have half of their family living in another country.

It never struck me until after my grandfather died and I visited Ireland with my grandmother that I was lucky to have all that I do, especially when it comes to my family. Even if some of them are across the ocean, we’re always there for each other. And my tattoo is something that has always been a family motto of ours, throughout all of the good and bad times: Maireann croí éadrom i bhfad – A light heart lives longest, in gaelic. Because it’s true, you know?

So this is a tribute to my family, my heritage, my life. That’s why the letters curve in a way, to give it a sense of whimsy, so that I always remember that not everything is going to be perfect, not everything SHOULD be perfect — and I think everybody should remember that. A light heart lives longest! Let the little things go, it’s not worth it.

Tattoo Story – Katie: Roots

tattoo on foot

This is the beginning of a tattoo i plan on adding onto for the rest of my life. I drew it, as did i my other tattoo, and although i’m not pleased with my artistic ability i think it will mean a lot more to me when i’m 70 and have a piece of my 17 year old mind on me.

As of late i’ve been really interested in meditation, reiki and a lot more in tune with the earth so i decided to get these roots on my ankle. They symbolize grounding; being at one with the earth. I plan on adding onto the roots every year and eventually they will probably take up the majority of my foot as i get older and my ‘roots’ grow. I’m also getting a black band around my ankle in a few weeks so that the little leaf on top will look like it’s poking out of the ground.
